Crowne Plaza Vientiane, First IHG Hotel in Laos, Opens

InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the opening of the new 197-room Crowne Plaza Vientiane in Laos, marking the group’s entry into the country.  The hotel is located near the center of the capital and largest city of Laos on Samsenthai Road, and approximately 10 minute drive from Wattay International Airport. The Crowne Plaza Vientiane is the first internationally branded upscale hotel in the capital city targeted towards both business and leisure travelers, and includes meeting facilities with a ballroom.


The hotel is located directly across the street from the historical King Fa Ngum statue and near the Lao National Museum, the Vientiane Night Market and the Wat Si Muang temple. The hotel is an important step to improving the tourism industry in one of the fastest growing nations in Southeast Asia. The country expects more than 9 million foreign visitors by 2025.


Crowne Plaza Vientiane features well-appointed premium guest rooms and suites tastefully decorated with traditional Lao elements, and modern amenities.  The hotel features several dining options:

  • Mosaic – market style restaurant
  • 3 Merchants – Vientiane’s first Indochine restaurant offering a mix of Lao, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisine
  • Elephant Lounge – the hotel’s lounge bar
  • Outdoor beer garden – to enjoy a casual evening in an al fresco setting


The hotel also has an outdoor infinity pool which offers stunning views of the city with poolside bar service at Splash, a 24-hour fitness center boasting state-of-the-art equipment, and the Senses Spa offering a range of relaxing treatments.
